Valentine's Day: Icing, Toppings or Cake? Plus date ideas for you!

Feeling: I'm actually not feeling anything. I just want to pee.

Time: 9:25 am

Okay, first of all I have a confession. Remember I said here, that I wasn't going to watch the remaining episodes of SGIT until today. Life happened. I watched it o. I watched everything the next day, I was so bored.

Now that I've gotten the confession out of the way, I can welcome you to a new month. I'm thankful for how far God has brought each and every one of us.

We all know this month is the month of love. There's a whole history of a certain Mr Valentino or something like that. I was told the story when I was in junior secondary school.

I have never been stoked about it. It has always been a normal day for me. I don't think I ever received a gift while I was growing up. I have always been of the opinion that Valentine's Day shouldn't be the only day you get to receive love or give love to your partner, I mean, you have 365 days to do that. If anything, it should be the extra toppings on the icing, not even the icing on the cake. Yuppity Yup.

So, you see, I don't dislike Valentine's Day or anything, I actually like it, just as a topping, not as the cake itself, or the icing.

I believe in giving very very thoughtful gifts. I spend so much time thinking of the perfect gift to give anyone I want to give to. I enjoy receiving gifts too, but I'd rather spend quality time with babe.  With the efforts I put into giving gifts, one would assume receiving gifts is my love language,  but it's not. The gifts I love more are the "I saw these and thought you would like them" kind of gifts.

I delved into all of that because I want to give y'all some Valentine's Day ideas. You may not have much money to spare, but you want to do something thoughtful. You may even have money, but don't want to do basic stuff you do all the time, like going out to eat and just getting some random gift, hoping (s)he would like it or going to the cinema

Some of these ideas, I got from twitter, and they're stuff I'd actually do. Okaayyy...

Miniature golf : I don't like golf, or more accurately, I don't know how to play.  If you're like me, you can still try it out, and laugh at yourselves as you mess up.

Art gallery viewings : I would not say I'm crazy about art.  I would not see a random picture on the wall and interprete it, because, I cannot see anything! But human likes art to an extent, and it'll be great to see whatever he's seeing, an opportunity to bond, you see. There must be junk food involved after the whole thing though.

Live plays: It'll be fun and different from the cinema.

A picnic in a park or at the beach : You will so find me doing this. You could surprise him/her. Or prepare together and just have fun eating and gisting and laying under the sun. Sigh*

Gym: For those of you who are so inclined to getting abs and stuff.

Karaoke : I'm already grinning cos I know what this would be like. Have fun making fun of yourselves.

Staying indoors: If this isn't my zone. There are so many things to do indoors!
  • Sleep.
  • Cook together; follow a recipe online and cook something you both have never tried before.
  • Eat loads of junk food and watch TV.
  • Lay next to each other and talk about your future, plans, dreams, everything, then sleep.
  • Play loads of indoor games.
  • If you both like reading, you could talk about the novels you have both read together.
Swimming : Have a competition or just play in the water. I can't swim to save my life, the only place I can swim in is the dead sea.

Mountain climbing: I can hear myself panting already.

Stroll and gist: I like this too.

Arcade games: Even if you'll lose, enjoy.

Pray together: doesn't have to be the whole day.

Drive around : If you have a car, you can drive round, eat and listen to music.

DIY gifts : You could both make DIY gifts for each other. You could either make them. Individually or together. I'll go with together .

I'm pretty sure there are many more date ideas. I wish I had some ideas for people in LDRs. Sigh* Oh you could write letters to yourselves.  I loovveeee letters.  Is there anything you want to add to this list? Please do. Plus what's the best Valentine's Day experience you've ever had?  Have a lovely month.

Much love,
Fifi.
