Too many Yesses could ruin you.

Feeling: Bland
Time: 12:34am

I recently saw one funny high school ish movie, Good kids which was about a  group of friends who claimed they were never invited to parties throughout highschool, hence, their plan for the summer was to say Yes to everything. They did say Yes to everything, they attended all the parties and did all the stuff that students in high school movies do, and some things they shouldn't have done.

Of course, they had crazy fun. After I watched it, I was left to think about the kind of person I am. A 'yes' person? Or a 'no' person?

So many times we keep being told to learn to say NO without feeling guilt afterwards. I think it's a good thing; Learning to stand your ground ; Learning to say 'No' when you really want to say No. While Yes comes naturally to many people, I also think it's important to know when to say 'Yes'.

Like every other thing, there must be some balance. Too many Yes's could ruin you, and too many No's could starve you of some opportunities, pleasure and fun. I mean, live a little.

Our Yesses and Nos more often than not, rest on our moralities and belief systems. The things we say 'Yes' to, or 'No' to, give us a little insight into who we are. They help us know more of ourselves.

So, in all your Yesses be wise, and in all your Nos be kind (to yourself and others).

What are you prone to saying more - Yes's or No's?

Much love,
Fifi.

  1. I am learning to say more of No, trying to be kind to myself. It is still difficult though but baby steps.
